Meet Radhames Aracena, owner of Radio Guarachita and key figure in the dissemination of Bachata. There is SO MUCH more to know than I can squeeze in this recap, so please please PLEASE use these resources (and others) to learn more. If you didn’t learn to speak a language by repeating fixed dialogues, why are you making your students learn to social dance that way? Let’s work on that, together. On Sunday, March 8th I’m going to break down the science of language acquisition for you, show you how to translate it through dance, and address why choreos are not working for your classes. Then we’re going to spend an hour working through a series of thought patterns I’ve devised for you that will help you create dozens of activities, lessons, and maybe even a whole new curriculum. Sunday, March 8th 12pm-3pm EST Online through zoom. Replay available for a limited time. Reserve your spot at: www.fortheloveofbachata.com/teachertraining [dance teacher, dance instructor, social dance, bachata, salsa, Kizomba, tango, Argentine tango, west coast swing, ballroom, swing, WCS, hustle, casino]
Like other songs released in the 1960s, her music still has that dreamy Bolero feeling, making it a great reason to learn to dance the true Traditonal Bachata: Bolero. While all Bachata artists have played important roles in cultivating and disseminating Bachata, few come close to the legacy of El Papá de la Bachata. What’s extra heart-warming is how he acts like father to other artists, supporting and celebrating them with utmost love and respect. Learn more about him today by exploring his vast music catalog. Key resources: Luis Segura interview with Adam Taub Luis Segura interview on “Con Jatna” Martires de León “La Evolucion de La Bachata” interview with Junior Cabrera #bachata #bachatadominicana #dominicanrepublic #dominicanbachata #bachatahistory
Bachata History is Black History Meet José Manuel Calderón, the first Bachata recording artist. Unfortunately, we will never know the names of those who played this music at bachatas (patio parties) and underground venues such as brothels before him. If you want to learn more about El Pionero de la Bachata, I highly recommend his autobiography, “El Primer Bachatero del Mundo,” co-written with Marivell Contreras. #bachata #bachatadance #bachatamusic
